Sun Chemical, Comexi Group & ESI – Innovating through partnership

Sun Chemical, Comexi Group, and E.S.I have once again teamed up to showcase innovative technologies in Flexographic printing.  Sun & The Comexi Group have a long standing innovation partnership over several years delivering the future of flexographic printing. With several WetFlex commercial presses now in place across Europe and the continuing market need for shorter runs, with gravure like quality of print at the cost of flexo, the WetFlex system is the ideal print solution for new press investments.  As a low migration, low odour, high resistance system, WetFlex finds itself in a uniquely advantageous position for the food packaging print market, as well as demanding jobs in the outdoor garden applications.

The WetFlex Technology – A revolution in printing

WetFlex high density inks provide mileage efficiencies, high definition graphics and are uniquely different in graphic quality.

Curing instantaneously by exposure to an in-line electron beam, WetFlex presses have only one EB curing station at the end of the press with no requirements for inter-station curing or drying.  Revolutionary ink and process technology facilitates wet on wet printing (with no turn bars nor back trapping) with no fixed sequence of colours (direct or reverse print) and low dot gain.

Gravure like quality in flexo:  high-quality print graphics give converters the ability to achieve gravure level print by using a flexographic press with the advantages of the shorter runs and cost of flexo.

Wetflex inks are uniquely formulated to provide high resistance to scuff and abrasion, have resistance to common household chemicals and products, shrink and stretchability, as well as thermoformability, high temperature heal seal resistance and most importantly, in today’s food packaging industry, are  low migration and low taint & odour.

Wetflex Benefits:  Printer converters gain significant environmental and cost benefits through the use of this solvent free process.  Not only a small press footprint, but converters can avoid incineration costs, flammability proofing of factories and ancillary equipment, reduce insurance costs, as well as contribute to the environment through using a zero VOC ink technology.  In addition, multi colour process print solutions are available to drive up operational efficiency.
